The Montgomery County Pride Family is a coalition of transformative organizations dedicated to advancing justice, equity, visibility, and joy for LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, and other underserved communities. Our work spans advocacy, direct services, education, and award-winning media production through entities such as Live In Your Truth, MoCo Pride Center, MoCo Pride Prom, Drag Story Hour DMV, Trans Maryland, Maryland Trans Unity, and the Coalition for Inclusive Schools & Communities.

Position Overview

The Montgomery County Pride Family is seeking a creative, strategic, and equity-minded Marketing Director to oversee and execute all facets of marketing, communications, and public engagement for our network of programs and initiatives.

This full-time leadership position is responsible for shaping our public narrative, promoting our events and services, growing our reach across digital and traditional platforms, and ensuring our brand reflects the radical love and vision at the heart of our work. The Marketing Director will lead a growing team of communicators and collaborate across departments to amplify our impact.

They will also be expected to proactively monitor the shifting cultural, legislative, and social landscape—ensuring rapid-response communication, timely messaging, and community-aligned storytelling in moments of urgency or crisis.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Marketing & Brand Leadership

  • Conceptualize, develop, and execute a comprehensive marketing and branding strategy for the Pride Family and its partner organizations

  • Translate organizational vision, values, and strategic priorities into clear messaging, campaigns, and public-facing communications

  • Create, implement, and maintain brand guidelines while ensuring consistent execution across all programs, platforms, and materials

  • Produce and manage marketing materials, storytelling assets, and communications that elevate the organization’s visibility and impact

Content Creation & Campaign Execution

  • Conceptualize, create, and publish compelling and inclusive content including social media posts, email campaigns, blog articles, press releases, print materials, and digital assets

  • Design, build, and execute marketing campaigns that promote programs, advocacy work, media productions, and fundraising initiatives from start to finish

  • Write, edit, and produce communications that reflect the voice, values, and mission of the organization

  • Develop visual and written storytelling that highlights community impact, organizational milestones, and leadership initiatives

Public Relations, Real-Time Response & Crisis Communications

  • Proactively monitor cultural, legislative, and social developments affecting LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, and marginalized communities

  • Produce rapid-response communications including statements, social media messaging, and calls to action during moments of urgency or crisis

  • Draft and distribute press releases, media statements, and public communications aligned with organizational leadership

  • Serve as a communications point of contact with media outlets and journalists, helping shape public narrative and visibility

Event Coverage & Organizational Promotion

  • Attend public events, programs, and community engagements alongside the CEO and organizational leadership to capture and promote the organization’s work

  • Produce real-time content including photography, video, social media posts, and live updates that highlight events and community engagement

  • Create promotional content before, during, and after events to increase visibility, attendance, and community participation

  • Document and amplify the organization’s presence through storytelling, media assets, and post-event communications

Internal Collaboration

  • Develop and manage messaging across departments and partner organizations

  • Provide marketing guidance and consultation to program managers and affiliated leaders

  • Establish and maintain brand voice and communications best practices

  • Develop and implement communications and marketing initiatives that support organizational goals

Equity, Accessibility & Community Focus

  • Create communications that are affirming, inclusive, and accessible to LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, disabled, unhoused, youth, immigrant, and other underserved populations

  • Implement best practices in multilingual access, visual accessibility, and trauma-informed communications

  • Reflect cultural awareness and community care in all messaging

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in marketing, communications, or related fields

  • Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills

  • Proven ability to manage communications in time-sensitive and high-pressure situations

  • Strong command of social media, email marketing platforms, and analytics tools

  • Experience leading public awareness campaigns, supervising teams, and collaborating across departments

  • Deep familiarity with LGBTQIA+, racial justice, and intersectional community issues

  • Working knowledge of Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Mailchimp, and website CMS platforms

  • Experience with video content, event promotion, and branding is a plus
